So finally Omicron the variant of Wave 3 decided to pay me flying visit, as It realised it's siblings Wave 1 & Wave 2 had not visited me. I joined the bandwagon of people who have been infected by the virus and also contributed my bit to Indian COVID-19 Statistics.
In the last two years whenever I caught a common cold, I was so paranoid that the doctor within me concluded it was COVID-19. However, finally when it hit me I was confident it's a common flu. (A typical human mind). I was informed to be in self isolation and told as this was a milder strand, there was nothing to worry.
Luckily I have a very supportive boss and an understanding team who were concerned on my well being. I was confident, I would not require more than a week to recoup and I will be bored to death sitting idle. Well, no wonder there is an apt description for my thought - Assumption is the mother of all **** ups. The virus decided to give me a reality check.
The horrible throbbing in the head and the body pain that made me feel a road roller had ran over you (Yup the ones that you would notice in one of the road widening project) had me drained. I was advised by everyone to take rest which is the only way to recoup other than few more remedies taking steam, gargling, taking antibiotics and what not. I became the modernised version of "Sleeping Beauty"
I finally needed help. Yup the so called independent girl could not fend to herself. Luckily; I am blessed with friends and well wishers around me who ensured I was looked after and was eating on time, since there was no energy within me to do anything on my own. (Let alone get out of the bed)
This incident made me think on what people had gone through in the last two waves and how it impacts each one's health both mentally and physically. I realised who are my friends who are there for me in my tough times. Trust me even a message / whatsapp call at times like this helps you fight this battle.
I am glad after a week, I am finally able to sit for few minutes with the body pain diminishing and hoping things will be better in a few more days.
Staying positive this will also pass!!!!
