Picked up from Terribly Tiny Tales but could relate to each word here!
REASONS WHY ADULTING SUCKS - Maya Tayullathil
1. Bills: who knew that living was this expensive? I didn't. Sometimes I think even breathing is expensive.
2. Responsibilities: now that I am a certified "adult" I know why my mother resisted to us having pets, why we went grocery shopping so often and why we were reprimanded for wasting food, electricity, and what not. They weren't being dramatic! They were Adulting.
3. Emotional Baggage: ugh. Need I even explain this? So many unsaid things, so many feelings. Is there some storage area where I can drop them off till I am ready to confront them? And also, how much will they charge me?
4. Relationships: every relationship changes over time, your childhood friends are busy getting married and making new humans or travelling or doing something while you are watching the popcorn pop inside the microwave. The last relationship you had was with the stray dog outside your flat and even that dog has found a girlfriend now. Actual connection with people seem like a dream on some days. Do we feel jealous though? Hell no. (I am lying).
5. Working sucks: yes, even if we love our jobs, on some days when it is raining and it is cold and cozy dragging yourself out of bed to go work seems like a task. And it gets worse if you do not like what you are doing, that is a whole another hell.
6. Confusion: a lot of time as an adult goes into making decisions (wise ones) because they apparently will decide how your life will pan out. It gets worse when you don't know what makes you happy and the pandora box of what we are doing with our lives opens. (RUN!).
7. People Dying: this is one of the worst parts of being an adult. You start losing people and it affects you more than it did when you were younger. But life moves on. And eventually, you will too.
8. Laundry: this needs a special mention because how many times can we wear undies and socks inside out? (Gross? Tell me you haven't done that. No, no, tell me?)
9. It is beautiful: as much as Adulting sucks, it also is beautiful. It makes us more appreciative and teaches us new things. (NOT.)
