Foot in the Mouth !!!

My mom used to say, I have a foot in the mouth syndrome. Well I proved her theory right once again.Over the years, I have believed that Dhakai saris are too stiff and transparent. As the saying goes 'half knowledge is always dangerous'. Anyways I happily tell my host in a casual conversation that I don't like dhakai sari for these reasons. And then comes all the chaos. Apparently they had got me a Dhakai Sari as a gift and since I said it loud, they decided to pick up another sari for me. 

After a lot of commotion when i finally see the sari that they planned to gift me, I realize my entire concept of the sari material was so wrong. However the damage was done and I could not do anything about it. 

All I could do was apologize meekly for the chaos created by me and informing I dont need another sari. Aunty just smiled and said, it's ok if your mother had been there she would have done the same. Consider am doing the same thing.

A very emotional moment for me, but it felt so nice to be amongst a loving family during the festive season. Thank you Amrita for inviting me home. And definitely for the lovely saris which has got added to my collection.
