On one of the weekends, I stayed over at Amrita’s place where we spend watching movies and playing board games. We decided to order from ‘Nagarjuna’ an Andhra restaurant that gives humongous quantity of food when ordering carrier meals. Amrita cooked for Koko (Ayushman) alone and fed him. Once we received the order, we sat down for lunch. As part of the meals they provide papad, a thin crisp flatbread which is fried and eaten with various rice preparation. Amrita called for Koko who was playing; informing him his favorite papad is there. Koko was all excited and sat with us in the table and ate the papad. I was amazed at how the smallest of things make a kid happy. I asked if he loves it so much since he was relishing every bite he was having. Koko informed, he loves these fryums and when he was going to playschool, he used to eat a lot. He informed they used to give him different types like colored ones, different shapes etc. He asked if I could get him some when visiting him the next time. I informed him, I will be going to a shop tomorrow and I will pick up the same for him. He said he wants those that are shaped like a fish since he loves the taste. I asked him how much he wants, for which he paused thought for a minute and spread his hands saying he needs lots of it. I informed Koko that I will keep up my promise and get him, but also told him that his mommy will scold me if I get lots, since its not good for health. He responded that mommy has also told him never to waste food, so if there is surplus she would not waste it and would have to make it for him. The spontaneous response he gave left me speechless and amazed at how he used the advice given to him to his advantage.
